Anthony Baskerville, the former Dean College offensive coordinator has been named associate head coach and offensive coordinator at East Coast Prep (ECP). Baskerville comes to ECP with an extensive college coaching background (8 seasons) and as recently as 2019 was named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Assistant Coach of the Year, as he guided the league’s most explosive offense.

Under Baskerville’s direction, the Dean offense averaged 28.1 points per game in 2018, including topping 40 points on four separate occasions. He played a vital role in the development of 2018 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Rookie of the Year, Terrell Watts, who threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games.

Baskerville’s other collegiate coaching stops include a season at the University of New Haven where he served as the receiver’s coach for the Division II Chargers when they went 7-4 and advanced to the Northeast-10 Championship.

In addition to his role as associate head coach and offensive coordinator, Baskerville will oversee The Firebird Academic Success Program.

In joining the ECP staff, Baskerville reunites with head coach Todd Vasey whom Baskerville played collegiately for and coached with at Dean College. With Vasey at the helm and Baskerville at quarterback, Dean College won 2 consecutive NEC titles in 2008-2009 and compiled a 19-3 record, while playing in two national bowl games.

After his two playing seasons at Dean, Baskerville went on to play at Division I football at the University of Rhode Island where he emerged as one of the best wide receivers in the Colonial Athletic Conference.

In his junior season with the Rams, Baskerville was named a third-team All-CAA selection finishing with 48 catches overall for 500 yards and three touchdowns.

He followed up that impressive season with a second-team All-CAA selection in 2011 after leading the league in yards per reception (15.9), finishing third in receiving yards (731), touchdown grabs (7) and was named All-New England by the New England Football Writers Association.

In two seasons with the Rams, he saw action in 22 contests and finished with 94 catches for 1,231 yards and ten touchdowns.

Baskerville was recently inducted as a member to the Newark New Jersey, Athletic Hall of Fame and is a 2012 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in communications.
