East Coast Prep improved its record to 4-1-1 by defeating the JV of division 1 Bryant University. The final score was 31-14.

BU scored on its first possession. ECP’s defense held BU scoreless until 5 minutes were remaining in the game.

ECU’s first possession was advanced by Will Omahen‘s (Dwyer, Portsmouth, NH) punt return. It took only 4 plays for the Firebirds to get on the scoreboard. QB Chase Vaughn (Milton, Milton, MA) threw 2 passes to Peter Bibby (Bishop Hendricken, Johnston, RI) for completions. Vaughn’s handoff to Kam Robbins (Holy Trinity, Long Island, NY) moved the ball to the 15 yard line. Drew Danson(King Phillip, Wrentham, MA) caught the pass from Vaughn to score for the Firebirds. Matt Whitney’s (North Kingston, North Kingston, RI) PAT tied the score at 7-7.

The Firebirds added more points on their third possession, which started on their 2 yard line. Vaughn handed to Damon Phillips (East Orange, East Orange, NJ) who dodged the defense for an advance.

Vaughn’s 97 yard pass to Luke Jones (Deerfield, Deerfield, IL) resulted in a TD. Whitney’s PAT gave the Firebirds a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.

Strong defensive plays allowed ECU to gain possession of the ball. Ejike Brown (Bellaire, Houston, TX) batted the BU’s quarterback’s pass, and Marcello Gomes (Taylor, Taylor, TX) caught the batted ball for an interception. Vaughn moved the ball down the field with a pass to Bibby. Bibby would score on the next play when he caught Vaughn’s five yard pass. Whitney kicked the PAT, and the Firebirds led 21-7 in the third quarter.

Later in the third quarter, QB Jay Kastanin (Needham, Needham, MA) would led the Firebirds to their next score. Multiple handoffs to Robert Moreland

( Westhampton Beach, East Moriches, NY) resulted in ECP’s better field position.  Kastanin’s 50 yard pass to Bibby resulted in a touchdown. The PAT was kicked by Whitney, and the Firebirds led 28-7.

In the fourth quarter, Whitney kicked a field goal to increase ECP’s lead to 31-7.

The win was a total team effort with no turnovers by the offense. The defense help BU on multiple attempts on fourth downs.
