Saturday, October 15, East Coast Prep traveled to Newport, RhodeI
Island, to play the undefeated Naval Academy Prep School.
(NAPS) The Midshipmen defeated the Firebirds 17-10. The Firebirds are
4-2-1.
Starting on their own 30 yard line with their first possession, QB Chase
Vaughn (Milton, Milton, MA)
passed to Luke Jones( Deerfield, Deerfield, IL). Elijah Smalls ( Cedar
Hill, Egg Harbor City, NJ) caught a 26 yard pass from Vaughn. Vaughn’s
next play would be a pass to Peter Bibby (Bishop Hendricken, Johnston,
RI). After two rushes by Damon Phillips
(East Orange, East Orange, NJ), Matt Whitney ( North Kingston, North
Kingston, RI) kicked a field goal to get the Firebirds on the
scoreboard. The Midshipmen’s lead was cut to 4.
For the next scoring drive, led by QB Jay Kastanin (Needham, Needham,
MA),the Firebirds started on Navy’s 44 yard line. Elijah Smalls had a 39
yard reception from Kastanin. Damon Phillips rushes moved the ball for
ECP. Drew Danson ( King Phillip, Wrentham, MA ) caught the 8 yard
touchdown pass from Kastanin. Josh Bertrand ( Fayetteville Manilius,
Syracuse, NY) kicked the PAT making the score 17-10 with NAPS leading at
the half.
ECP’s defense held Navy’s triple option offense scoreless in the second
half.
ECP plays Delaware Valley Monday, October 24, in Doylestown, PA. Game
time is 4:30.
