Head Coach Todd Vasey

In 2024 Coach Vasey will enter his 5th year as the leader of the Firebirds. Coach Vasey has compiled a 28-8-1 overall record (77%), while mentoring and placing East Coast Prep players at colleges and universities nationwide.

Coach Vasey has spent his entire career mentoring and developing young men to be the best
that they can be in the classroom, in the community and in competition. Coach Vasey’s
extensive background includes four years leading ECP, four years as a college athletic director,
21 years as a college football coach, and eight years as a head football coach at the high school
level.

As head football coach at Dean College, Coach Vasey built a powerhouse program that
consistently helped student-athletes reach their goal of qualifying and playing at the DI college
level. Coach Vasey also had multiple student-athletes reach the NFL, earn
All-America status, collect conference player of the year honors and garner first-team all-
conference selections.

While at Dean, Coach Vasey’s program won four Northeast Football Conference (NEFC)
Championships (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011) and over a three-year stretch went 28-4 while finishing
the 2011 season ranked as the No. 8 team in the nation.

The all-time winningest coach in Dean College’s program history (83), Vasey was named NEFC
Coach of the Year five times (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011) and ranks in the top 30 all-time in
NJCAA winning percentage (70%).

Along the way, Coach Vasey guided Dean to a trio of appearances in postseason bowl games,
including the 2011 Valley of the Sun Bowl championship.

Before arriving at Dean, Vasey spent three seasons as the Associate Head Coach and Defensive
Coordinator at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. While there, the Bison won the 2001 Boyd
Division Championship, played for the New England Football Conference Championship (NEFC)
and Vasey’s defenses held 11 teams under ten points and posted four shutouts.

Prior to moving to the college ranks, Coach Vasey had eight successful campaigns as the head
coach at Saint Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, R.I. Coach Vasey led the Saints to a 50-32-2
overall record (60%), including three state title game appearances and the 1996 Division II State
Championship. For those efforts, he was inducted into the Rhode Island Football Coaches Hall
of Fame.

A 1984 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology
Education, Vasey went on to earn his Master of Education in Administration from Providence
College in 2009.
